The German Shepherd is a commission piece I did. I am sorry I didn't get better photos. He has all sorts of special details including custom painted eyes and a titanium fang.
He is on an armature and is entirely wool with glass eyes.
I recently came across grey foxes in a nature magazine. They are utterly charming. I am now working on a series of grey foxes in various aspects of personality. This one is the Sage. Dressed in hand crafted Asian influenced garments, he is wise and long lived. He carries a hemlock walking stick embellished with feathers and garnets.
This is the back view of Sage. The back basket is made with cotton cord on a floral wire frame. It is fastened with a rabbit jaw bone. Look carefully and you will find the rabbit ears among the Texas Sage in his basket.
I started with a photo of a mother bear on her back with her cubs crawling all over her. Unlike the majority of my work, this sculpture has no armature. It is all wool firmly needle felted. The bear is holding a spotted trout in his polymer clay claws. The fishing hat is made of prefelt. It is handsewn and decorated with a couple of fishing lures.
This piece is Hide and Seek. It features two harvest mice. These tiny guys are fond of tulip pollen in particular. I wet felted the tulip petals and the tulip leaves. The sculpture is mounted on driftwood.
The piece took second place in the Atlanta Fiber Arts Square Foot Show.
I created these for sale at a show in Bandera, Texas. Texas Wool Week is a fun annual event. 2025 will mark their tenth year. These ducklings are masquerading as Easter bunnies complete with ears on headbands.
